About Regional Priorities
From a variety of
needs-sensing activities across the region—including review and analysis of
public data, surveys, telephone interviews, and personal conversations with
educators and education policymakers—four priority areas emerged. Ongoing
formal and informal needs sensing will help ensure that our efforts stay
aligned with regional needs. The Midwest's four priority areas are:
- College and Career Readiness
- Early Childhood Education
- Educator Effectiveness
- Low-Performing Schools and School Improvement
These priority areas are foundational to the research alliance structure and to the development of REL Midwest projects. REL Midwest's research alliances are:
- Beating the Odds Research Alliance
- College and Career Success Research Alliance
- Dropout Prevention Research Alliance
- Early Childhood Education Research Alliance
- Leadership for School Improvement Research Alliance
- Rural Research Alliance
- State Data Directors Research Alliance
- Teacher Effectiveness Research Alliance
