Typical Questions Raised by Policymakers

Policymakers often ask the following questions:
- How well did each school and the district perform on the assessment?
- Are scores from each school and the district up or down from last year?
- Are students scoring at or above desired levels?
- What steps are being taken to examine the assessment results and make
instructional improvements?
- How will the results be reported to parents and the public?
Answers to these questions should be covered in the second report to the school
board. This report, which contains the actual assessment results, also should
provide longitudinal data for programmatic examination.
