Vivian Lyte, a school administrator, talks about the need for having school or district staff members who can provide parents with information concerning the assessment tests that students are given. Excerpted from the videotape The ABCs of School Testing (The Joint Committee on Testing Practices, 1993).

"If parents are interested in learning about the tests that are administered in the district and items such as validity or reliability, then districts have a person usually identified, such as the testing coordinator or a testing director or person such as that, who'd have in their office information about the tests that are being administered in the district."

This Critical Issue summary was researched and written by Edward D. Roeber, director of assessment, Council of Chief State School Officers.
